Just caught Amrize Ltd's Q4 numbers and they're interesting - the company came in slightly short on revenue but beat expectations on earnings. Revenue hit $2.84 billion, missing the Wall Street consensus estimate of $2.95 billion by about 3.7%, but EPS surprised to the upside at $0.62 versus the estimated $0.59. That's a solid earnings beat even if the top line disappointed.
Digging into the segment breakdown, the Building Materials division pulled in $2.16 billion in revenue (analysts expected $2.2B), while Building Envelope came in at $678 million against estimates of $750 million. On the EBITDA side, Building Materials actually beat with $705 million versus the $687 million Wall Street was looking for. But Building Envelope lagged with $130 million against the $170 million estimate.
What's worth noting is that despite the revenue shortfall, management managed to deliver a better bottom line than Wall Street anticipated. The stock's up about 7.9% over the past month while the broader market is down, so investors seem to be giving them credit for the earnings surprise. Currently sitting at a Zacks Rank 3 (Hold), which suggests the market sees this performing roughly in line with the S&P 500 going forward. Mixed results overall - revenue miss but earnings beat is the kind of quarter that can go either way with investors depending on what guidance management gives next.
