DePIN or AI: Which Narrative Still Has Fuel?
AI and DePIN are both still alive, but they are not trading on the same kind of proof. which has more fuel left?
Right now, data on CoinGecko shows the AI token category at about $21.8B in market cap, while DePIN sits around $9B. So AI is still the bigger trade by size, but DePIN is the smaller, earlier narrative.
The real question is not just hype. It is whether the sector has cash flow behind it.
That is where DePIN starts looking interesting. Messari’s State of DePIN 2025 says the sector generated an estimated $72M in FY25 onchain revenue and now represents roughly $10B in circulating market cap, with leading networks trading at 10–25x revenue.
AI still has the stronger overall industry momentum. NVIDIA reported $68.1B in Q4 FY2026 revenue and $215.9B for the full year, showing that AI infrastructure spending is still massive and very much real.
Here is my take :
AI is bigger, faster, and more reactive to headlines. while,
DePIN is smaller, slower, but more tied to actual usage and revenue.
If I had to lean one way for the next leg, I would say AI still gets the stronger short-term rotation, but DePIN may have more room because it is earlier and less crowded.
This is a Not financial advice. I am watching both, but I would rather own what is backed by usage than pure narrative.
Which one are you looking at right now: AI, DePIN, or both?
