🔥 French Minister: New Measures to Address Frequent Cryptocurrency Kidnappings


According to Cointelegraph, on April 16, the French Minister of the Interior, Jean-Didier Berger, stated at Paris Blockchain Week that France is preparing to introduce new initiatives to protect cryptocurrency holders. He revealed that authorities have launched a prevention platform and attracted thousands of registrations, while working with Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez to develop more comprehensive response plans, which are expected to be implemented within the coming weeks. Since 2026, France has experienced 41 crypto-related kidnapping cases, averaging one every 2.5 days; in 2025, global incidents of such "wrench attacks" increased by 75% year-over-year, with France being the most affected country worldwide, accounting for about 40% of the total European cases.
