Jean-Didier Berger, a ministerial representative for France’s internal affairs, said at Paris Blockchain Week that, in response to the increasingly severe threats of cryptocurrency kidnapping and “Wrench Attacks” at home, authorities are preparing new measures to protect crypto investors. Berger noted that the French Ministry of the Interior has launched a preventive platform and attracted thousands of registrations; more detailed plans will be released in the coming weeks. Data shows that from early 2026 to date, France has seen 41 crypto-related kidnapping cases, averaging one every 2.5 days. Meanwhile, globally, such attacks increased by 75% in 2025 to reach 72 cases, with France leading the world with 19 cases. (Cointelegraph)
