The Associated Press recently reported that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States has once again faced public criticism over its anti-doping mechanisms following a protest at an award ceremony for a track and field event. The report suggests that this incident not only drew public attention to the handling of individual cases but also exposed systemic shortcomings in the U.S. college sports system regarding drug testing, investigations, and information transparency. The report states that the incident occurred during the award ceremony for the NCAA Division III men’s 5,000-meter race. When the host announced the winner, Seth Klevenger, the other seven athletes on the podium collectively stepped down to protest. The related video was subsequently widely circulated on social media, with viewership exceeding 10 million. Since then, over 750 Division III runners have jointly written to school officials and relevant league authorities, demanding a “comprehensive and transparent investigation” into Klevenger. (Xinhua)
