Hong Kong Customs Hosts Forward-Looking Regional Conference to Promote Smart Customs Development
Hong Kong Customs, in its capacity as Vice Chair of the Asia-Pacific region of the World Customs Organization, held a three-day Asia-Pacific Smart Customs Conference from March 11 to 13, bringing together key stakeholders worldwide to jointly promote the digital transformation of customs business operations. In his remarks, Chen Zida, Commissioner of Hong Kong Customs, introduced Hong Kong Customs’ application achievements in areas such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data, emphasizing that the success of smart customs development depends on mutual trust, partnerships, and close coordination. He said that Hong Kong Customs is driving transformation with technologies such as artificial intelligence, building on “inward-and-outward linkages,” and playing a bridging role in “bringing in” and “going out” to deepen exchanges and cooperation between industries across different regions and customs authorities. Looking ahead, Hong Kong Customs will continue to advance digital reform of customs clearance, keep global trade connectivity flowing, and help build a more resilient supply chain.
