Former U.S. senior military officer warns that if landing in Iran, U.S. troops will be "quickly overwhelmed"
For days, the United States has been continuously deploying troops to the Middle East, and public opinion generally believes that the U.S. military is preparing for ground operations in Iran. In response, Joseph Votel, a former commander of the U.S. Central Command, recently warned that if the U.S. rashly dispatches ground troops to land on Iranian soil, these forces “will be quickly overwhelmed.” According to U.S. sources, Joseph Votel stated that the U.S. is currently increasing troop deployments to the Middle East, and compared to launching ground military operations, this move is more likely intended to send a threatening signal to Iran to support diplomatic pressure. Votel warned that if the U.S. rashly sends ground troops to land on Iranian territory, these forces “will be quickly overwhelmed.” He also pointed out that even if the U.S. military only executes an operation to seize Hark Island, because the island is very close to Iran’s mainland, landing U.S. troops would expose them to strikes from Iranian drones and missiles, putting these troops in a very vulnerable position.
