Boeing expects that acquiring Spirit AeroSystems will help strengthen its efforts to improve safety and quality. The aircraft manufacturer stated in an annual shareholder report that the acquisition is “an important step in supporting production stability” and has strengthened “efforts to improve safety and quality across all our factories, operations, and supply chain.” Boeing said that after following its Safety Management System-guided strict production rate readiness process, the company has been able to increase the output of the 737 and 787 aircraft. Previously, the company had experienced multiple safety and manufacturing issues.
