Taking action to stop insiders involved in prediction markets

According to reports, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating suspicious oil trades made prior to some announcements issued by the Trump administration regarding the Iranian war.

A report published by Bloomberg on Wednesday states that the CFTC's investigation focuses on trading activity on the CME Group's New York Mercantile Exchange and Intercontinental Exchange's futures platforms.
The regulatory authority also requests "Tag 50" identity data from trading platforms to assist in the investigation. Tag 50 data is widely used in audits and regulatory compliance verification.

The investigation into futures trading platforms comes alongside increased scrutiny of insider trading in prediction markets.
Bloomberg reported that the CFTC is reviewing at least two cases during a two-week period that saw a sharp increase in oil trading volumes shortly before the Trump administration made statements related to the Iranian war.
