CoW DAO stated that the attacker forged documents impersonating team members to trick the domain registrar into cooperating, thereby reissuing the SSL certificate for cow fi and injecting malicious content into the main domain. The project said this was not a breach of CoW infrastructure nor a leak of private information, but a social engineering attack targeting the registrar.
