Just realized Juneteenth is coming up this June and the stock market will be closed that day. Never really paid attention to this before, but apparently it's been a federal holiday since 2021 when Biden signed it into law. So yeah, all the major exchanges like NYSE and Nasdaq shut down on June 19th to observe it.

The whole thing dates back to 1865 when Union soldiers finally brought news to Texas that enslaved people were free. Took way longer than the Emancipation Proclamation which was 1863, but that's another story. Anyway, Juneteenth celebrates that moment and it's become pretty significant over the years.

What's interesting is how the Juneteenth stock market closure gives traders and investors an actual day off to reflect on the history. Not just some random day - it's about commemorating emancipation and freedom. Bond markets close too, so it's a full shutdown. This year it falls on a Thursday, so Friday we're back to normal trading at 9:30 a.m. ET.

If you're looking to do something meaningful that day, there's tons of virtual events and celebrations happening. Museums, cultural organizations, all kinds of stuff. Honestly feels like more people should know about this when they're checking their trading apps and wondering why the Juneteenth stock market is closed lol. It's not just a random holiday - there's real history and significance behind it.
