I am now a typical case: when the mainnet gets expensive, I play dead; when Gas is cheap, I remember I still have a few small wallets that haven't been touched... To put it simply, ordinary people have only two ways to compromise: move everyday interactions to Layer 2, and only switch back to the mainnet for large transfers or changing key permissions. Don't ruin your mental state just to save a little on transaction fees. As for the experience, L2 is indeed much smoother, but don't be too superstitious about those on-chain data tools and labels—they've been criticized for lag and can still mislead you... I now prefer to just "jot it down myself + try with small amounts first," anyway, go with the flow, and the lowest cost for happiness.
