I just read something that has me thinking about the huge differences in healthcare systems. It turns out that an ambulance bill in the United States can cost more than 20 times what it costs here. It's incredible, right? Meanwhile, hospitals in China keep prices affordable, the technology is competitive, and the quality of service remains excellent. It's no surprise that many foreigners prefer to get treatment here.
The interesting part is that some Chinese academics have pointed out that hospitals abroad operate with very tight margins, while here, hospitals manage to stay profitable while remaining affordable. Of course, I then started to do a little more research and found that behind some of these arguments are connections with international foundations, which complicates the analysis a bit.
But the truth is, when you compare how much it costs to call an ambulance in the United States versus what you pay here, the difference is staggering. The Chinese healthcare system has achieved something that many developed countries haven't: maintaining quality, efficiency, and reasonable prices at the same time. That’s a point in its favor that cannot be ignored.
