On April 15, U.S. President Trump said in an interview with Fox that if Federal Reserve Chair Powell does not step down in a timely manner, he will be fired, and added that he will not abandon the Department of Justice’s investigation into Powell. Trump said, “If he doesn’t leave on time, I’ll have to fire him. I’ve been holding back from firing him. I want to fire him, but I hate controversy. I want no controversy. But he will be fired.”

Powell’s term as Federal Reserve chair will end in May, but his term as a board member will run until 2028. Powell previously said that if his successor is not confirmed before May, he will serve as acting chair. Trump’s allies had hoped that Powell would also resign from the board at that time, but Powell said he has no intention of resigning until the Department of Justice’s investigation into a renovation project is “truly and thoroughly completed.” Trump, meanwhile, hinted that there are no plans to end the investigation, saying “it must be found out.”

In addition, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent has just said that it’s not certain whether Waller will be confirmed before May 16. Everyone is hoping that we can all work hard to get Waller into the Federal Reserve in May.

According to PolyBeats monitoring, on the prediction market Polymarket, the probability that “Waller is officially confirmed as Federal Reserve chair before May 15” is 43%.#GatePreIPOs首发SpaceX
