I just noticed an interesting prediction from Citigroup regarding the US dollar bond issuance of Indonesian companies this year. According to Bloomberg, although Moody's recently downgraded Indonesia's government credit outlook at the beginning of the year, major banks remain optimistic about the potential of companies in this region.
The interesting part is that Citigroup believes Indonesian companies will not stop but will continue seeking opportunities in the international debt market. This forecast indicates they assess the companies' ability to overcome challenges quite highly, despite concerns about economic stability.
Looking more broadly, this is a common trend in emerging markets. Companies are increasingly recognizing the value of accessing international debt markets to raise capital. The attractive yields of dollar bonds and the capital needs to support business growth are driving this trend.
Therefore, in the current context, Indonesian companies are expected to make significant contributions to global bond issuance activities. Strong capital demand and investor interest remain key factors supporting Citigroup's optimistic forecast.
