Around 12 noon on April 1st, a netizen posted a video on social media showing that a new energy vehicle near their home had crashed into a wall. The video shows that the front half of the vehicle has driven into the wall, with multiple people involved in rescue efforts. The driver’s condition is not yet clear. The netizen’s post also showed that after the accident, someone wrapped the involved vehicle with a car cover. Huashang Daily Dafeng News reporter verified that the incident occurred near Lujiatan Street and Chaoyong Road in Puyan Street, Binjiang District, Hangzhou.

In the evening of April 1st, media learned from the local fire department that the accident occurred around 11 a.m. According to a report by Fujian Radio and Television, staff from the Puyan Street Fire Rescue Station confirmed that they received the accident report at 11:49. After arriving at the scene, they confirmed that there were no injuries or fires. The fire department’s only responsibility was to move the involved vehicle out of the way. The subsequent handling of the incident has been handed over to traffic police and towing personnel.

>> Vehicle brand: No requirement to cover with a car cover, but cannot determine if it was illegal

Several netizens expressed confusion about why someone covered the involved vehicle shortly after the incident. According to photos from the scene, the rear of the vehicle displays the word “LUXEED,” which, upon inquiry, is the English name of “Zhijie Auto.” The reporter compared the brand and vehicle information and suspected that the involved vehicle is a Zhijie S7. According to the car sales app, the vehicle’s price ranges from 229.8k to 299.8k yuan.

At around 9 a.m. on April 2nd, Huashang Daily Dafeng News reporter contacted Zhijie Auto’s official customer service. The customer service said they needed to respond through the after-sales department. Later, a staff member stated that currently, there is no regulation in Zhijie’s after-sales policy requiring a car cover during towing, but it cannot be definitively said that the involved personnel’s behavior was illegal.

“According to traffic regulations, when towing a vehicle after an accident, the towed vehicle must not have anyone sitting inside. Regarding covering the vehicle, we need to know the vehicle’s chassis number before reporting,” the staff said. They suspected that the behavior might be a unilateral action by the towing personnel.

Around 10 a.m., a staff member from the Puyan Middle Team of the Binjiang District Traffic Police in Hangzhou said that the incident was still under further investigation.
