Omdia: China's PC market shipments will reach 11.5 million units in the fourth quarter of 2025
Ask AI · How Will Rising Costs Change the PC Market Landscape in 2026?
IT Home, April 2 — Omdia today released data, with the 2025 fourth quarter China PC market roughly flat year over year, and total shipments of 11.5 million units.
Among them, desktop computers (including desktop workstations) shipped 4 million units, up 35% year over year, mainly driven by enterprise demand and government procurement. In contrast, laptop shipments (including mobile workstations) fell 13% year over year to 7.5 million units. Although government subsidies are still providing support, consumer demand has weakened. Meanwhile, the tablet market has maintained strong momentum, with quarterly shipments up 10% year over year to 9.1 million units.

Tablets
IT Home learned from the report that in 2025, China’s PC market shipments grew 6% year over year to 42.1 million units, mainly benefiting from strong commercial demand and relatively steady consumer market performance in the first half of 2025. The tablet category performed better than PCs, with full-year shipments up 14% to 36 million units, thanks to support from consumer subsidy policies and expanded deployment of commercial applications.
Looking ahead, China’s PC and tablet markets will face significant pressure. As the intensity of subsidies declines and material costs (BOM) rise—especially memory costs—Omdia currently predicts that in 2026, China’s PC shipments will fall 10% year over year to 37.9 million units. Among them, the consumer market decline is expected to be even more pronounced, with a projected year-on-year drop of 12%. At the same time, after the high base in 2025, tablet shipments are expected to decrease by 11% in 2026, to 32 million units.
