Sinopec News: April is the traditional off-season for industry demand, restricting the trend of wood pulp prices

In early April, the imported wood pulp spot market was under pressure. As of April 7, the monthly average price of coniferous pulp decreased by 2.37% month-on-month, while broadleaf pulp showed stagnation. The core pressure stems from downstream negative feedback: domestic paper mills are slowing down their raw paper shipments, showing resistance to high-priced pulp, and maintaining just-in-time procurement. This demand fatigue is transmitted upstream, suppressing foreign market quotes, weakening the cost-side support logic, and causing spot prices to lose upward momentum. Overall, weak demand is currently dominating the trend, and it is expected that pulp prices will continue to fluctuate at low levels in the short term. (Zhuochuang Information)
