When I first got into NFTs, I really thought royalties = the creator's "salary," and that secondary sales should automatically split the proceeds, which seemed obvious. Now it looks more like a default courtesy: when the market cools down, it’s the first to be cut, and everyone says they respect creators, but in practice they prefer "0 royalties are more attractive."
Recently, with airdrop season + task platforms targeting anti-witchcraft measures, it’s become like attendance checks—points systems turning token hunters into workers, which also resembles the royalty issue: the rules are complicated, and in the end, everyone is just competing to see who can be more cunning or who can escape better. Honestly, if the creator economy only relies on secondary sales commissions to survive, it’s too fragile... I don’t have any grand solutions, so I’ll just buy fewer "patriotic tickets," and focus more on understanding whether I’m supporting the work itself or just supporting liquidity.
