On April 7th, local time, U.S. media released an interview with Cuban President Diaz-Canel.
Diaz-Canel stated in the interview that Cuba does not pose a threat to the United States, and the U.S. has no “excuse” to launch military action against Cuba.
Diaz-Canel said that Cuba opposes resolving differences through military means and advocates easing tensions through diplomatic channels.
He criticized the tough rhetoric from the U.S. side, especially former U.S. President Trump’s mention of “taking over” Cuba, considering it completely contrary to Cuba’s stance of promoting dialogue.
Diaz-Canel also said that Cuba will always strive to avoid war and is committed to peace, but if subjected to military invasion, Cuba will defend itself and retaliate, making the aggressor pay the price.
