On the first day of spring break in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, and other regions, the Yangtze River Delta railways experience a peak in passenger flow.
On April 1st, the Yangtze River Delta railway experienced a surge in travelers, with an estimated 3.18 million passengers dispatched on that day, an increase of 987k passengers compared to the same period in 2025 (April 1st), a growth of about 45%. On March 31st, just past, the Shanghai Railway Group dispatched 987k passengers. The double holiday of spring break and Qingming Festival created a six-day continuous holiday, boosting the enthusiasm of family trips, with significant increases in tourism, educational trips, and family visits. On that day, the Shanghai Railway Group pre-sold 350k children’s tickets, 20 times the number in the same period in 2025. Among them, the Nanjing direct station, Hefei direct station, and Shaoxing North station pre-sold 47.6k, 40.7k, and 4.9k children’s tickets respectively, an increase of 46k, 39.6k, and 3.5k tickets compared to 2025. To make holiday travel more comfortable for passengers, the Shanghai Railway Group strengthened capacity on direct routes to Beijing, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Nanchang, Changsha, Hankou, Zhengzhou, and within the region for round-trip travel to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Yangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Yiwu, Huangshan, Wuhu, Fuyang, and Xuzhou, among other popular tourist cities in the Yangtze River Delta. On that day, 102 additional passenger trains were scheduled, and 261 high-speed train sets were organized for joint operation, striving to meet the travel needs of passengers. (CCTV News)
