According to official information, American Express announced an acceleration of its AI payments rollout, releasing a developer toolkit for “Agentic Commerce.” American Express said it will reduce fraud and dispute risks by opening payment credentials only to verified AI agents and conducting identity verification for cardholders, among other mechanisms, and it has pledged purchase protection for erroneous transactions generated by registered AI agents. American Express also said that its existing transaction dispute resolution mechanisms can cover scenarios involving AI agent misoperations, in order to increase user trust and drive transaction volume growth; it further stated that it has developed “multiple plans” for stablecoins and may explore stablecoin settlement scenarios, but it has not disclosed any specific details.
