Just now I saw a heated discussion again about NFT royalties, and it suddenly made me think about what modularity really means for us regular users: honestly, you might not necessarily understand terms like "data availability" or "execution layer," but you'll be affected by it in two ways—one is that transfers/interactions no longer cost an arm and a leg, and the other is that applications start to be "assembled" and launched, switching underlying services is like changing food delivery platforms, making the experience less fragmented.
And royalties are quite similar: everyone wants liquidity to be smooth and transaction fees to be lower, but creators are afraid of being cut off completely and having no income…
In the end, the pressure will still be passed down to the products—who can make "cheap + fair" look less ugly.
That's all for now, I'm a bit emotionally mellow today.
