On March 6th local time, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov stated at a routine telephone press briefing that due to the situation in the Middle East and Iran, Russia has recorded a significant increase in energy demand. Peskov said that Russia has been, and still is, a reliable supplier of oil and natural gas (including liquefied natural gas), with the capacity to ensure the stability of energy supplies under all contracts. Peskov mentioned that Russia is maintaining dialogue with Iranian leadership and will continue relevant contacts, but did not disclose whether military-technical cooperation is currently underway between the two sides. Peskov also commented on Finland’s plan to deploy nuclear weapons, stating that deploying nuclear weapons in Finland would pose a threat to Russia, and Russia will take countermeasures; Finland’s related statements will increase its own security vulnerabilities, and such actions will lead to an escalation of the situation on the European continent.
