New Consumption Trend! Ministry of Commerce: Smart Glasses Online Sales Increased by 183.5% in January–February, Window Cleaning Robots Grew 1.3 Times

【Beijing Report】On March 25, 2026, the Ministry of Commerce released the operational status of China’s e-commerce market for January–February 2026. The data shows that, with the continuous release of demand for digital consumption and the precise boost from the “trade-in for new” policy, smart home and wearable devices have seen explosive growth, with smart glasses and window cleaning robots performing the most remarkably.

Data Recap: “Star Products” Behind Double-Digit Growth

According to big data monitoring by the Ministry of Commerce, during the first two months of this year, China’s online retail sales have maintained steady growth, but some sub-sectors of smart products have seen astonishing growth:

  • Smart Glasses: Online retail sales increased by 183.5% year-on-year. With the maturation of AI multimodal interaction technology, smart glasses have evolved from geek toys into everyday essentials that combine translation, navigation, and health monitoring functions. During the Spring Festival, sales of some brands even multiplied by several times.

  • Window Cleaning Robots: Online retail sales increased by 130.8% year-on-year. As a typical representative of the “lazy economy,” window cleaning robots, backed by more mature path planning and adhesion safety technologies, are accelerating their penetration from first-tier cities to third- and fourth-tier markets.

  • Overall Trend: During the same period, smart home appliances with top-tier energy efficiency and embodied intelligence robots also achieved robust growth.

Driving Factors: Policy + Technology on a Dual Track

Industry experts analyze that this growth mainly benefits from two aspects:

Policy Dividend: The 2026 consumer goods trade-in policy for the first time included emerging categories such as smart glasses in the subsidy scope. A 15% government subsidy directly reduces consumers’ cost of trying new products.

Embodied Intelligence Goes Live: Subcategories such as window cleaning robots benefit from the deployment of general embodied intelligence algorithms. This not only improves cleaning efficiency, but also enables adaptation to more complex household façade environments.

Industry Outlook: From Single-Point Breakouts to Full-Scene Coverage

The Ministry of Commerce noted that, in January–February, online retail sales of agricultural products also grew by 17.6%, and cross-border e-commerce import platforms increased by 7.6%, showing a comprehensive optimization of the online consumption structure. The breakout of smart glasses and cleaning robots indicates that 2026 will become the inaugural year for the popularization of “full-scene AI consumption.”

This report is based on data compiled from the Ministry of Commerce’s regular press conference held on March 25, 2026.
