I just read that Konstantin Ignatov, the brother of the famous Cryptoqueen, is being released from prison. The judge ruled that he has already served enough time for his role in the $4 billion OneCoin scam. He was released on March 5th after pleading guilty and receiving a 34-month sentence.
Interestingly, when his sister disappeared in 2017, it was Konstantin Ignatov who took control of the entire operation. He worked as her assistant from 2014 to 2016, and then became the de facto leader of the program. During the trial, he admitted to lying in his testimony—something about a laptop in Las Vegas.
But that’s not all—other players involved in OneCoin also received sentences. Mark Scott, a former lawyer, was sentenced to 10 years and ordered to pay back $392 million. Karl Sebastian Greenwood, a co-founder, received 20 years for earning $300 million from the scam. Irina Dilkinska, the legal director, pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
The most interesting part? Ruja Ignatova, the main Cryptoqueen, has not been seen since 2017. She is on the FBI’s ten most-wanted list, but there are rumors that she may have been killed by a drug lord. Madness.
