Ever get confused when you see people throwing around numbers like 1K, 1M, 1B on Twitter or in Discord? Yeah, me too when I first got into crypto. Let me break down what these actually mean because honestly, understanding this stuff makes a huge difference.
So 1K is basically 1,000. The K comes from 'kilo' which just means thousand. Simple right? When you see something like 10K, that's 10,000. 100K is 100,000. You'll see this everywhere - someone's got 1K followers, a project has a 1K market cap, whatever. It's just shorthand.
Then there's 1 Million, which is 1,000,000. That's a thousand thousands if you think about it. Written as 1M. So 5M would be 5 million, 10M is 10 million. Way bigger than 1K obviously.
And then you've got 1 Billion - that's 1,000,000,000. A thousand millions. Written as 1B. These numbers start getting wild when you're looking at market caps or trading volumes.
Honestly, if you're spending time on YouTube, doing freelance work, or trading in crypto, you're gonna run into these terms constantly. Understanding what 1K actually represents versus 1M versus 1B is kind of essential if you don't want to get confused about what you're looking at. Could be the difference between spotting a good opportunity or missing it because you misread the numbers.
Quick cheat sheet: 1K = 1,000. 1M = 1,000,000. 1B = 1,000,000,000. Bookmark that if you need to.
