You know, I've long noticed a funny thing in crypto trading: we are all, to some extent, Luddites. Yes, exactly. I used to think it was a problem of beginners who don't understand anything. Then I realized — a true Luddites is not someone ignorant, but someone who has learned everything, refined their strategy, but their hand still reaches to press the button at the worst possible moment. I was exactly like that for the first two years.
And here's what I found out: fighting the inner demon is useless. It doesn't go away. But you can avoid waking it up! That’s the main discovery.
Willpower — it's like a phone battery. Full in the morning, and by evening or after a couple of trades, it's already on the red line. As soon as willpower drains, our inner player wakes up, shouting: "Everything and right now!" That’s when problems start.
How did I tame it? I have three simple rules that work.
First — forget about leverage. I used to think: with a small deposit and no leverage, I’ll grow it forever. I was wrong. It turned out to be the opposite. Without leverage, I am calm, like in meditation. No wild adrenaline, no desire to make up for losses or jump into a trade headfirst. The account only started growing when I stopped trying to double it overnight. Paradoxical, but true.
Second — step away from the screen. If I stare at the monitor for hours, my brain begins to see signals that aren’t there. Feeling myself boiling up? I close the terminal and go for a walk or to the gym. Physical activity clears the head from clutter perfectly.
Third — trade not alone. When you're alone, you can do stupid things and no one will know. But if you agree to show your trades to friends-traders in the evening — it’s a completely different story. It becomes embarrassing to display chaos instead of a system. Responsibility to others works better than any self-control.
My simple advice: don’t try to become robots. Just create conditions where your inner Luddites will be bored, and your wallet will be safe. The system works when you don’t break it.
Profit and only systematic trades! 📈
