In the first three months of 2026, brain-computer interface funding has already surpassed the entire previous year! Where did the money go, and what does it mean?
Ask AI · Surge in Brain-Computer Interface Funding, How Can Policy Support Catalyze Industry Explosion?
Strong Brain Technology secures about 2 billion yuan in funding at the start of the year, the largest single financing in China’s brain-computer interface history to date; Gestalt Technology completes 150 million yuan angel round financing, setting a new record for angel funding in this field.

On April 1, Beijing Fourth Wave Science and Technology Think Tank, in collaboration with Zhongguancun Tiancheng Innovation Research Center, released the “China Brain-Computer Interface Commercialization Outlook Report.” The report shows that since 2025, financing for brain-computer interface companies has entered an unprecedented active period. In the first three months of 2026, the total financing amount for brain-computer interface companies has already exceeded that of the entire year of 2025.
In 2026, “brain-computer interface” was written into the government work report for the first time, making it one of the key future industries cultivated during China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period. The report’s researchers analyzed and surveyed more than 80 Chinese brain-computer interface companies, widely solicited opinions from industry experts, and made predictions about the market prospects of this frontier industry.
The report indicates that to promote the development of the brain-computer interface industry, the national venture capital guidance fund, representing the “national team,” officially launched in December 2025, funded by ultra-long-term special government bonds, and listed “brain-computer interface” as one of the seven key investment areas.

Multiple regions have established special funds for the brain-computer interface industry. For example, Beijing announced in February 2026 a total scale of 8 billion yuan for the “Zhongguancun Science City Science and Technology Growth Phase IV Fund,” with 1 billion yuan of direct industrial investment specifically targeting future industries like brain-computer interfaces; Shanghai is promoting the establishment of a brain science and brain-like intelligence special fund with a scale of tens of billions of yuan; Shenzhen has set up several funds for brain science and brain-like intelligence, supporting upstream core links such as flexible electrodes and high-throughput chips for R&D and industrialization.
Regarding corporate financing, according to Wind data cited by IT Juzi, in 2025, there were 24-26 brain-computer interface financing events, with a total amount close to 1.45 billion yuan. Since 2026, there have been 17 financing events, with the total amount exceeding that of all of 2025.

Among them, Strong Brain Technology secured about 2 billion yuan in funding at the start of the year, the largest single financing in China’s brain-computer interface history to date; China’s first ultrasonic brain-computer interface company Gestalt Technology completed 150 million yuan angel round financing, setting a new record for angel funding in this field; Ladder Medical received 500 million yuan in strategic financing, led by Alibaba, with Tencent and others participating, marking deep involvement of internet giants in brain-computer interface development.
The report predicts that by 2026, China’s brain-computer interface market size is expected to surpass 5 billion yuan and maintain rapid growth, reaching over 15 billion yuan by 2030.
