I just realized recently that sometimes registering for overseas websites or testing SMS verification interfaces can be really troublesome. Buying a new SIM card isn't practical, so SMS verification platforms come in handy. Basically, they provide virtual numbers to receive verification codes temporarily, which protects privacy and saves effort.

I've tried quite a few, and some platforms either don't receive messages or have delays of half a day. Eventually, I found a few that work pretty well. SMS-Activate and 5SIM are the smoothest for me; verification codes usually arrive within 10 seconds, and they cover many countries, making them especially suitable for cross-border testing. For domestic use, Super Cloud SMS and Little Bird Verification are also decent. US numbers typically arrive in 10-30 seconds, Chinese numbers are even faster, around 5-20 seconds. Getsmscode is cheap but sometimes delayed, suitable for light use.

When using SMS verification platforms, there are a few pitfalls to avoid: shared numbers can be used by others, niche apps might not receive verification codes, so it's best to prepare several numbers to prevent account blocking. Also, don't choose platforms just because they're cheap; reputable platforms offer better stability. If you're just testing APIs, any platform supporting API access will do. But if you need stable registration for a specific website, I recommend topping up multiple numbers so you can switch quickly if one becomes invalid.

By the way, some platforms support a 'one-click number switch' feature, which is very practical and saves a lot of time. Overall, SMS verification platforms are just a way to rent a phone number temporarily—use it and discard it, with privacy protection guaranteed.
