International Energy Agency Director: The current energy crisis has surpassed the combined total of the past three and may usher in a "Black April"
People’s Finance News, April 7—The head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, said that the severity of the current global energy crisis is “even worse than the 1973, 1979, and 2022 (energy crises) added together.” He expects the crisis will accelerate the development and rollout of renewable energy, nuclear power, and electric vehicles. In an interview report published by France’s Le Figaro on the 7th, Birol said that in the short term, countries should “be as cautious as possible” in conserving energy, because the global energy market may face a “Black April.” “If the Strait remains closed throughout April, the shortfall in crude oil and refined oil products will be more than twice that of March.” (Xinhua News Agency)
