The Taiwan Affairs Office of the PRC held a regular press conference. After a reporter drew attention to an AI short video, “Rescue the Fox in the Snow Mountains,” which went viral on the mainland, it also caught on in Taiwan. Many Taiwanese netizens and well-known entertainers have then carried out all kinds of “fan remixes” and creative reinterpretations in various forms.

Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian said that the mainland side welcomes cross-strait netizens making good use of new technologies to create lively and interesting expressions and interactions, and welcomes cross-strait compatriots to communicate more, visit more often, and develop together.

Zheng Lijuan’s Mainland visit aligns with the mainstream public opinion on the island

Regarding Kuomintang Chairwoman Zheng Lijuan leading a delegation to visit the mainland, according to online public opinion surveys, 60% of netizens believe it will have a positive impact on this year’s Blue camp county and city mayoral elections, with a clear “bonus” effect.

Zhu Fenglian said that Zheng Lijuan’s delegation visited the mainland, engaging in dialogue and exchanges on the common political foundation of upholding the “1992 Consensus” and opposing “Taiwan independence.” This aligns with the mainstream public opinion on the island that wants peace, development, exchanges, and cooperation. It will receive affirmation and support from the people of Taiwan.

Matters between the two sides are household matters for the compatriots on both sides

Zhu Fenglian also said that the two sides across the Taiwan Strait belong to one China; both are Chinese people; we are one family. Matters between the two sides are household matters for the compatriots on both sides. They should properly be decided through consultations by the family members themselves. Cross-strait compatriots have ample wisdom and capability to resolve their own problems well.

She emphasized that the mainland side is willing, while upholding the common political foundation of the “1992 Consensus” and opposing “Taiwan independence,” to work together with Taiwan’s various political parties and groups and people, including the Kuomintang, to promote peaceful development in cross-strait relations—to seek peace for the Taiwan Strait, to seek well-being for our compatriots, and to seek rejuvenation for the nation. The DPP authorities, driven by the self-interest of “Taiwan independence,” smear and slander things in a way that nobody can accept.

Lai Qingde’s attempt to sabotage economic ties across the Taiwan Strait will not succeed

Taiwan’s leader Lai Qingde recently said that the United States has become Taiwan’s largest destination for outward investment and export market. Taiwan’s investment in the mainland has declined, and it will continue to deepen cooperation with the United States to safeguard the security of global supply chains.

Zhu Fenglian said that the Lai Qingde authorities, driven by the self-serving political interests of a single party, have repeatedly shown obsequiousness toward the United States, attempting to push for decoupling and severing of economic ties across the Taiwan Strait and harming the interests and well-being of industries and people on the island. The audacious claim of “deepening cooperation with the U.S. and safeguarding the security of global supply chains” is, in essence, “selling Taiwan by leaning on the U.S.” It further exposes that they have been carefully planning with every means possible for “using the outside to pursue Taiwan independence.”

Zhu Fenglian said that according to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, in the first two months of this year, the total trade volume between the two sides across the strait maintained a steady growth momentum, reaching 52.54 billion U.S. dollars. Of this, exports from the mainland to Taiwan increased by 28.1%, and imports from Taiwan to the mainland increased by 19%. This fully shows that the two sides’ economies cannot be decoupled and cannot have the supply chain severed. Deepening integrated development across the two sides aligns with the common interests of cross-strait compatriots and market laws. The plot of the Lai Qingde authorities to sabotage economic ties across the strait will not gain public support and will not succeed.
