America returns to the Moon, is a new journey beginning?

On the evening of April 1 in Eastern Time, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s new lunar rocket “Space Launch System (SLS)” launched the “Orion” spacecraft from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying four astronauts to perform the crewed lunar-orbit flight mission “Artemis 2.”

The main objective of this mission is to validate the spacecraft’s key systems through a deep-space flight lasting about 10 days. Although this mission will not land on the Moon, it will focus on validating the SLS rocket’s crewed performance and the Orion spacecraft systems, including life support, navigation and communications, and the ability to provide heat-shielding at reentry temperatures of 2800°C—paving the way for the 2028 crewed lunar landing of Artemis 4.
