Trump agrees to a two-week ceasefire; Iran says US-Iran talks will begin on the 10th in Islamabad
U.S. President Trump said in a social media post on the evening of the 7th that he had spoken with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz and the Army Chief of Staff Munir, who requested that the U.S. side temporarily pause airstrikes on Iran. “I agree to pause the bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks, provided that the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to comprehensively, immediately, and safely open the Strait of Hormuz.” “This will be a two-way ceasefire.”
Late in the early hours of the 8th, Iran’s Mehr News Agency cited a statement from the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reporting that negotiations with the United States will begin on April 10 in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, for a period of two weeks.
A senior White House official told CNN reporter on the evening of the 7th that Israel has also agreed to suspend bombing operations during negotiations between the United States and Iran.

In a statement released in the early hours of the 8th local time, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that, based on the recommendations of the Supreme Leader and approval by the Supreme National Security Council, it accepted the ceasefire proposal put forward by Pakistan.
The statement said that in this war, almost all of Iran’s targets have been achieved; the enemy “suffered historic and complete defeat,” and the Iranian side will “continue the struggle until the great achievements are consolidated, and establish a new security and political landscape in the region,” and decided to hold negotiations in Islamabad to determine the details—“consolidating the results of victory through political negotiations within at most 15 days.”
The statement also said that Iran rejected all plans proposed by the enemy and formulated a ten-point plan to be submitted to the United States through Pakistan. The plan emphasizes the following key points:
In coordination with Iran’s armed forces, control passage through the Strait of Hormuz;
End the war against all members of the “Axis of Resistance,” and put an end to the aggression of the Israeli regime;
Withdraw U.S. military forces from all bases and deployment points in the region;
Establish a safe passage protocol in the Strait of Hormuz to ensure Iran enjoys a leading position;
Fully compensate Iran for its losses based on the assessment results;
Lift all Level One and Level Two sanctions and sanctions-related resolutions of the Security Council;
Release all Iranian assets and properties frozen overseas;
Finally, all of these matters should be approved in a binding Security Council resolution.
The statement emphasized that all agreements reached in the negotiations will become binding international law and will bring an important diplomatic victory to the Iranian nation.
