On April 8, U.S. Vice President Vance stated that if Iran fails to reach an agreement before the deadline that evening, the U.S. may escalate its actions against Iran, potentially utilizing previously ‘untapped measures.’ Vance mentioned that the U.S. has the ‘capability to inflict greater pain,’ but emphasized that both Trump and he do ‘not wish to reach that point’ and are currently actively pursuing negotiations. He indicated that the U.S. expects to receive a response from Iran by 8 PM Eastern Time on the 7th (8 AM Beijing Time on the 8th), regardless of whether the outcome is positive or negative. Vance warned that the U.S. still has ‘untapped measures’ at its disposal, and if Iran does not cooperate, the U.S. does not rule out the use of these measures.
