National Energy Administration: Total electricity consumption across society increased by 6.1% year-on-year in January-February of this year.

On March 17, the National Energy Administration released data for all-society electricity consumption for January to February and other related figures. In January to February, total electricity consumption by the entire society reached 1.65T kWh, up 6.1% year over year. By electricity consumption across sectors, electricity consumption in the primary industry was 22.3 billion kWh, up 7.4%. Electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 1.03T kWh, up 6.3%, including industrial electricity consumption up 6.4% year over year and electricity consumption in high-tech and equipment manufacturing up 10.6%. Electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 323.1B kWh, up 8.3%, including electricity consumption growth in the charging and swapping service industry and the internet data service industry reaching 55.1% and 46.2%, respectively. Rural and urban residents’ electricity consumption for living purposes was 281.3B kWh, up 2.7% year over year.
