ETF Morning Review | A-shares fall below 3,900 points, AI computing power sector rises, Guotai Communication ETF and GF Communication ETF both up over 3%
Gelonghui April 3 | As of midday, the Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.93%, the Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.73%, the ChiNext Index fell 0.21%, and the Beiqi 50 fell 1.4%. The total market trading value was 1,079.0 billion yuan, down 117.8 billion yuan from the previous trading day. Sectors such as photovoltaics, lithium batteries, biomedical and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, natural gas, chemicals, coal, and catering and tourism led the declines; CPO, semiconductor equipment, servers, AI computing power, and financial technology themes were active. More than 4,700 stocks in the market declined.
Today, communication, oil & gas, and Hong Kong stock-related sectors strengthened against the trend. The related ETFs recorded notable gains, becoming one of the few bright spots in the market:
Communication sector: Communication ETF Guotai (515880) surged 3.61%, Communication ETF Fullgoal (159583) rose 3.26%, Communication ETF Harvest (159695) rose 3.15%, Communication ETF Huaxia (515050) rose 2.67%, 5GETF Boshi (159811) rose 2.57%, Communication ETF Southern (159511) rose 2.21%. Benefiting directly from active themes such as CPO, AI computing power, and servers, the entire communication industry chain strengthened across the board. Oil & gas sector: SPDR S&P Oil & Gas ETF Guotai (159518) rose 4.01%, leading energy-related assets higher against the trend. Hong Kong stock sector: Hong Kong Stock Connect 100ETF Huian (513900) jumped 5.19%, leading the whole market; Hong Kong Stock Connect ETF Merchants (513990) rose 2.33%, with Hong Kong broad-based index benchmarks also strengthening in sync. Growth sector: ChiNext Growth ETF Huaxia (159967) rose 2.24%, with growth-style assets rebounding modestly.
Today, biomedical/pharmaceuticals, agriculture, coal, and new energy sectors saw a deep pullback. The related ETFs posted losses, with the decline in place across the market; more than 4,700 stocks in the market declined:
Biomedical and innovative drug sectors: Innovative drug ETF Tianhong (517380) fell 3.18%, Sci-Tech innovation innovative drug ETF Guotai (589720) fell 2.94%, Biopharmaceutical ETF Guotai (512290) fell 2.81%. The biomedical and pharmaceuticals sector weakened across the board, with larger declines among the laggards. Agriculture sector: Grain ETF Penghua (159698) fell 3.14%, Agriculture ETF E Fund (562900) fell 2.81%, Agri. & Animal Husbandry ETF Southern (159173) fell 2.79%, Agri. & Animal Husbandry ETF CCB Credit Suisse (159616) fell 2.73%, with agriculture sectors all pulling back together. Coal and new energy sector: Coal ETF Guotai (515220) fell 2.78%, New Energy ETF Shwin & Partners (159752) fell 2.74%, Building Materials ETF Guotai (159745) fell 2.73%, and cyclical and new energy sectors weakened in tandem.
