Russia to conscript 135,000 troops in fall 2025, pledging that they will not be sent to special military operation areas

Russian authorities said on the 28th that the Russian Armed Forces General Staff has released a statement saying that the 2025 fall conscription task has been fully completed. A total of 135,000 people were drafted, and all conscripts who report for military service will not be sent to areas for special military operations. At a press briefing on the 2025 fall conscription summary and the Russian army’s replenishment situation for spring 2026, Zimlyanskiy, deputy director of the Mobilization Directorate under the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, said that those liable for conscription will be assigned to serve at their permanent duty stations within Russia, excluding the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.
