Dominican Republic President claims discovery of over 150 million tons of rare earth mineral deposits, potentially becoming a key supplier of critical minerals

Dominican President Abinader announced that the country has discovered more than 150 million tons of rare earth mineral reserves, covering 17 critical rare earth metals, and is expected to become an important supplier for high-tech industries; Abinader set a goal to complete an assessment of mineral resources within this year and certify reserves at the beginning of next year, in order to enable large-scale mining and smelting. Given the economic potential of the discovery, the Dominican Republic has established a new state-owned institution—the Dominican Mining Company—to be specifically responsible for the extraction of mineral resources and the management of exports.
