A clean breeze brushes over the green fields—this is exactly the time to take a spring outing. During the Qingming Festival, residents and tourists across the country have gone out of their homes in large numbers. Some take to boats on the water to enjoy the flowering blossoms competing along both banks; some go cycling with their children to slow down and appreciate the flower seas along the way; others board trains to watch the spring scenery beyond the window unfold on a grand scale……Spring outings and enjoying the spring are no longer confined to the destination—any journey is a scenic one, flowers along the way can be enjoyed to the fullest, and it vividly showcases a China full of vitality and warmth, flowing with energy.

On the 6th, a reporter learned from the Ministry of Commerce that during the Qingming holiday, many places implemented spring vacation extension (extended breaks), which released consumer demand and injected vitality into the spring consumer market.

According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce from its business big-picture database, during the Qingming holiday, the average daily sales value of key retail and catering enterprises across the country increased by 2.4% year on year. For the 78 pedestrian streets (commercial districts) under the Ministry of Commerce’s key monitoring, passenger flow and revenue grew by 6.0% and 6.7% year on year, respectively.

In terms of goods consumption, as of April 5, the 2026 vehicle trade-in and upgrade program had received a total of 1.526 million subsidies, driving new car sales of 246.8 billion yuan. For appliances trade-in and upgrades, as well as sales of digital and smart upgrade products, sales reached 62.845 million units, driving sales value of 215.97 billion yuan. For key platforms, sales value of smart glasses, smart watches and bands, and smart blood glucose meters grew by 3.2 times, 12.3%, and 19.6% year on year, respectively.

In terms of services consumption, according to the Ministry of Commerce’s business big-picture data, during the Qingming holiday, the Ministry of Commerce’s key monitored catering enterprises saw sales value increase by 3.9% year on year. For key platforms, hotel accommodation consumption increased by 2.6% year on year, cross-city outbound trips increased by 15.1% year on year, theme park consumption increased by 11.7% year on year, and parent-child research-and-study orders doubled year on year. The number of car rental orders grew by about 40% year on year.
