I've seen too many people chase the hundredfold myth, only to die before dawn.

The truth is: doubling your wealth annually, reaching a thousand times in ten years, is enough to change your destiny. But most people can't do it — not because the returns are too low, but because their desires are too high.
As Charlie Munger said, big money isn't made by trading, but by waiting. Unfortunately, those who have indulged in drugs can never quit that feeling of euphoria.
Zeng Guofan's wisdom is equally applicable to investing: build a solid fortress, fight a steady war. Use speed to gain certainty, use time to harness compound interest.
Remember: what makes you free isn't the amount of wealth, but the confidence to spend money. And this confidence is much cheaper than you think.
Embracing mediocrity can actually lead to freedom.
