Iran’s Fars Bright Communication Agency reported early on the 7th that Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Iraavani, sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Guterres regarding “the warlike remarks of the U.S. president,” protesting the latest remarks by U.S. President Trump, saying they may amount to direct incitement to terrorism. Iraavani said in the letter that deliberately attacking civilians and non-military targets, including destroying infrastructure necessary for sustaining civilian life—such as power plants, energy facilities, and other critical civilian infrastructure—constitutes war crimes. This is an open act of state terrorism, carried out for the purpose of creating panic and causing serious harm to civilians. He said that even terrorist organizations such as “Islamic State” would feel ashamed of making such blatant and horrifying remarks. Earlier that day, Trump threatened that the U.S. military only needs “4 hours” to blow up all of Iran’s bridges and power stations; whether the war against Iran is about to escalate or is nearing an end depends on Iran’s response to the “deadline” he set, at 20:00 Eastern Time on the 7th.
