Iranian forces vow to avenge the sinking of the warship
A reporter with CCTV learned that, at local time on March 5, the Iranian Navy frigate “Dena” was sunk in international waters by a U.S. Navy submarine. In an official statement, the Iranian Armed Forces strongly condemned the “barbaric attack” carried out by the U.S. military in overseas areas and vowed to make the U.S. pay for its crimes by making its enemies pay the price. The statement said the attack took place in open-sea waters about 2000 miles (about 3220 kilometers) from the actual battlefield. At the time, “Dena” was carrying a group of young naval cadets on its return voyage to Iran after participating in the India-led “2026 Milan” joint maritime exercise. The Iranian Armed Forces emphasized that, without any warning, the U.S. Navy launched a “vile and inhumane” attack against this vessel, which was carrying out a training mission and was far from the combat zone, thereby completely violating international maritime regulations, international humanitarian law, and recognized navigation conventions. The Iranian Armed Forces said it would take more decisive action than ever before, so that the U.S. would come to regret the provocateurs’ despicable conduct like never before. On March 4, the Iranian Navy frigate “Dena,” returning to Iran from India, was sunk by a U.S. Navy submarine in waters near Sri Lanka. So far, at least 87 people have been killed.
