Delphi Digital: GameFi funding in 2025 decreased by over 55% year-over-year

ChainCatcher message: Delphi Digital posted on the X platform that the GameFi industry’s performance in 2025 has been lackluster, with funding down more than 55% year over year. The most anticipated product launches have also underperformed, and market enthusiasm is low.

Web2.5 games are quietly rising. These games treat blockchain purely as underlying infrastructure; they typically do not issue tokens and compete based on real revenue. Studios such as Fumb Games, Mythical Games, and Wemade/Wemix are continuously generating substantial income while using blockchain technology to improve profit margins and increase engagement.

This year, Web3-native games have generated six- to seven-figure revenue, but the player base is smaller and crowded with bots. After incentive mechanisms disappeared, user churn became severe. Web2.5 studios can currently take advantage of blockchain benefits without forcing users into speculation. The widespread adoption of stablecoins will accelerate this trend, making small-ticket transactions, global payment rails, and engagement-based reward mechanisms more convenient.
