Galaxy Securities: Civil aviation travel volume continues to grow in March; the feature of staying strong in the off-season is expected to carry over to the April policy incremental milestone.

Galaxy Securities research report states that, according to Flight Manager, domestic civil aviation passenger volume in March increased by 12% year-on-year, with business travelers up by 8.3% year-on-year. It is expected that the overall demand for civil aviation travel will still be mainly driven by leisure travel. Considering that provinces piloting the spring break in April have begun implementation, the overall travel data is expected to continue to show strong and rapid growth. Referencing data from TravelSky and Civil Aviation Manager, from April 1 to 6, domestic flight bookings increased by 9% year-on-year, and during the May Day holiday, domestic flight bookings increased by 13% year-on-year. The average ticket price during the Qingming holiday increased by 16% year-on-year.

Of that, passenger volume on business routes increased year over year by +8.3%, and overall air travel demand growth is expected to be primarily driven by leisure travel. Considering that pilot provinces start implementing the spring holiday in April, it is expected that overall travel data will continue to maintain strong and rapid growth. Referencing data from Trip.com’s aviation vertical and Civil Aviation Manager, as of April 1–6, domestic route bookings increased year over year by +9%, and during the May Day holiday domestic route bookings increased year over year by +13%. In terms of pricing, during the Qingming holiday, the base ticket price increased year over year by +16%.
