Recently, I've been messing around with virtual number verification services again. Previously, I encountered many pitfalls when testing interfaces and registering overseas accounts. Some platforms would take half a day to receive the verification code, or simply not respond at all. Only later did I figure out which ones are reliable. To be honest, while there are many US verification platforms to choose from, there are indeed differences among the paid options.
Among the ones I've used, SMS-Activate and 5SIM offer the most stable overall experience, especially for US number ranges. Most of the time, you can receive the code within 10 seconds, and they cover all the major apps (Telegram, Google, Twitter, etc.) without issues. Super Cloud SMS is well optimized for domestic number ranges. Although it also supports US numbers, sometimes it can be slower during peak times. Bird Verification mainly targets domestic apps, so US verification isn't their main focus.
Regarding payment, US verification platforms generally charge per use, with options for monthly packages or bulk numbers. My advice is, if you only need to use it once or twice temporarily, just top up some balance. But if you need frequent testing, it's better to prepare several numbers in advance. If one becomes invalid, you can switch immediately, saving time. Some platforms also support API integration, which makes interface debugging especially convenient.
Another detail is that many numbers are shared, so there's a risk they might have been used by others, especially on cheaper platforms. My usual approach is to choose reputable providers with high activity levels, even if they cost a bit more, to ensure stability. Also, don’t use virtual numbers as your long-term primary number; privacy and security can't be guaranteed. They are just tools for temporary emergency use.
A friend asked me which platform is the most worth trying. My answer depends on your purpose. For simple interface testing, just pick any that support API. If you want to register overseas websites with a higher success rate, then go for paid US verification platforms like SMS-Activate or 5SIM. Spending a bit more money can save you a lot of trouble.
