The People's Bank of China has added 12 new digital yuan service operating institutions.
To implement the decision-making and deployment in the “15th Five-Year Plan” outline regarding the “steady development of the digital RMB,” further improve the inclusiveness of digital RMB services, and continuously respond to the public’s demand for secure, convenient, and efficient digital RMB services, the People’s Bank of China has added China CITIC Bank (601998.SH), China Everbright Bank (06818.HK), China Huaxia Bank (600015.SH), China Minsheng Bank (600016.SH)**, Guangfa Bank, SPDB Development Bank (600000.SH), Zhejiang CIB (601916.SH), Ningbo Bank (002142.SZ), Jiangsu Bank (600919.SH), Bank of Beijing (601169.SH), Nanjing Bank (601009.SH), and Suzhou Bank (002966.SZ) as bank-type digital RMB business operating institutions, and they have been connected to the central bank’s digital RMB system. After the newly added institutions complete business and technical preparations, they will carry out digital RMB business.
Next, the People’s Bank of China will, in an orderly manner and in accordance with principles of marketization and rule of law, expand the roster of operating institutions, further stimulating the enthusiasm and creativity of market players and fostering a digital RMB development environment characterized by openness, inclusiveness, and fair competition.
