ChainCatcher message: Aave founder Stani Kulechov posted a call for reforms to DAO governance models. He noted that the current way DAOs operate is extremely difficult—the decision-making process is slowed by forum discussions, temperature checks, and multiple rounds of voting. At the same time, DAOs can easily become politicized, with participants forming political alliances, ultimately leading to “politicians” winning instead of builders.

Kulechov argues that governance should focus on areas that truly require collective participation, such as major protocol changes and treasury strategies; the rest should belong to the execution layer and require leaders to drive it. He said Aave needs to stay agile, streamline the governance process, and seize opportunities in the global lending market. Recently, the Aave community has experienced governance turmoil: key contributors BGD Labs and ACI withdrew from the protocol following conflicts with Aave Labs. The two sides also disagree over the “Aave Will Win” proposal put forward by Aave Labs.
