Breaking News | Striving for a 45-day ceasefire! "The US and Iran will negotiate to permanently end the hostilities"!

China Central Television (CCTV) News reporter learned that, local time on April 5, according to four people familiar with the negotiations, the United States, Iran, and a group of regional mediators are discussing a ceasefire agreement that could last 45 days, which is expected to permanently end the fighting.

The sources said that the chances of reaching a partial agreement within the next 48 hours are close to nil. However, this final effort is the only opportunity to prevent the fighting from escalating sharply; otherwise, Iran’s civilian infrastructure would be subjected to large-scale attacks, and the energy and water conservancy facilities of the Gulf states would face retaliation.

Reports say the mediators are discussing the terms of an agreement to be carried out in two stages. The first stage is a ceasefire that could last 45 days, during which negotiations will be held for a permanent end to the fighting. The second stage will result in an agreement to end the fighting. If negotiations require more time, the ceasefire period may be extended.

The White House is currently refusing to comment.

Current situation

U.S.-Israel airstrikes on Sharif Technical University in Iran

Iran has already seen 30 universities subjected to direct attacks

According to multiple Iranian media outlets including the Tehran Times, reported on April 6, the United States and Israel carried out an airstrike on Sharif Technical University in Iran. The reports said the airstrike damaged the gas station at Sharif Technical University, and the area is temporarily facing a gas disruption. “This is a typical example of a war crime. Our enemies will use places of a completely civilian and scientific nature as attack targets.”

Also, according to photos released by the Tasnim News Agency, the university’s mosque was also hit by an airstrike. Inside the building, walls and ceilings were damaged, and the ground was piled with debris of furniture, with dust everywhere.

Iranian media reported on April 4 that Iran’s Minister of Science, Hussein Seyme Salehaf, said that 30 universities in Iran have already been directly attacked. Five professors and more than 60 university students were killed in the U.S.-Israel attacks, and attacking infrastructure is a “crime against humanity.”

Iran warns the U.S.: If the White House makes another stupid mistake, it will block the Strait of Hormuz

On April 5, Iran’s top leader’s foreign affairs adviser, Varayati, warned the United States that if it “makes another mistake,” the Iran-led resistance front will use blocking the Strait of Hormuz as a countermeasure.

On that day, Varayati said in a post on social media: “Today, the unified command of the resistance front views the Strait of Hormuz the same way as the Strait of Hormuz. If the White House makes another stupid mistake, it will soon realize that with just one action, the flow of global energy and trade will be cut off.”

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and is a key passage connecting the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Indian Oceans. This strait is within the control area of Yemen’s Houthi forces.

Trump posts profanity

Again threatens Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz

Some media believe that Varayati’s post is a response to the threat issued by U.S. President Donald Trump to Iran that same day.

In a post on April 5, Trump again demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz and threatened that “April 7 will be Iran’s power-plant day and bridge day,” implying a fierce bombing of Iran’s power plants and bridges.

In a post on social media, Trump said, “April 7 will be Iran’s power-plant day and bridge day,” implying that he intends to fiercely bomb Iran’s power plants and bridges. He also said, “Open that damn strait, otherwise you’ll live in hell—just wait and see!” Trump even used profanity in the post, and his words were extremely emotional.
