Central TV reporter learned that, as of April 5 local time, according to four sources familiar with the negotiations, the United States, Iran, and a group of regional mediators are discussing a potential 45-day ceasefire agreement that is expected to permanently end the fighting.

The sources said the chance of reaching a partial agreement within the next 48 hours is next to nil. However, this last-ditch effort is the only opportunity to prevent a sharp escalation of the conflict; otherwise, Iran’s civilian infrastructure will be subjected to large-scale attacks, and the energy and water infrastructure of the Gulf states will be retaliated against. The White House is currently declining to comment.
